Humans were a species native to Earth.

Physiology

Humans appeared phenotypically identical to Sebaceans, and one of their number, John Crichton, was mistaken for Sebacean on more than one occasion. ("Premiere", "PK Tech Girl") However, there were a number of distinctions; not only were Humans shorter than Sebaceans on average, ("The Binds that Tie") but the bacteria found in the Human gut was distinct enough to mark them as a separate species. ("Premiere") The Human brain cavity is also smaller than its Sebacean equivalent, ("What Was Lost - Sacrifice") and their energy signature is significantly different. ("Nerve") However, Humans were better equipped at dealing with extreme heat than Sebaceans, as like many other species, Humans had a gland able to regulate significant thermal increases. ("Exodus From Genesis") Humans were also exceptionally resistant to the effects and processes of the Aurora Chair. ("Nerve")

On the other hand, Humans came up short in a number of areas when compared to other species. Humans possessed a relatively short lifespan of about eighty to ninety cycles. Furthermore, Human eyesight was remarkably deficient by the standards of various other species ("Crackers Don't Matter") They were more susceptible to pantak jabs than most other species. ("Throne For a Loss")

The supernatural entity known as Maldis noted that Humans were "heavy breeders". ("Picture If You Will") A Human's heart rate increased when sexually aroused. ("We're So Screwed - Hot to Katratzi")

According to Grunchlk, Humans and Interions were a biological match, with the latter possibly being an offshoot; ("Die Me, Dichotomy") a notion that Jool of the Interion race found to be doubtful and if not insulting. ("Self-Inflicted Wounds - Could'a, Would'a, Should'a") Like Interions, Humans had blood types, which played a role in compatibility in transfusions. ("Thanks for Sharing")

Sociology

In the experience of the Ancients, the dominant species of most planets was the most destructive, and in this, Humanity was no exception. They recognized them as paranoid creatures, too many of whom would react negatively to the existence, let alone integration of alien species. ("A Human Reaction")

From Ka D'Argo's experience and interaction with John Crichton, Humans were exactly like Sebaceans, in that they believed themselves to be superior and that they treated the rest of sentient lifeforms like animals. ("Scratch 'N' Sniff") Chiana similarly believed that the constant infighting between Humans was the main reason why Humanity had barely left its homeworld.

Humans had a conception of an afterlife, believing in places such as "Heaven" and "Hell." Some believed in seeing a bright light after death, at which point they were reunited with friends, family, and relatives that had died before them. ("The Flax")

Human technology was primitive compared to that of the species found on the other side of the galaxy. ("That Old Black Magic") Human technology had developed on its own, and had "gone in a different direction" compared to the more advanced technologies of other species. For instance, Human spacecraft used the principle of thrust and exhaust for space travel, but the means of achieving this were completely different when compared to Peacekeeper technologies. ("House of Cards")

Noranti noted that Humanity's most endearing trait was its inability to give up, to always strive to do better, even in the face of insurmountable odds. A trait that likely came from their ignorance of the wider galaxy. She however, noted that Humanity's religions had been used to excuse all matter of attrocities. ("A Constellation of Doubt")

History

27,000 cycles ago, the Eidelons took great pains to find a species none of the civilized races of the galaxy were aware of. They found Earth and its barely clothed inhabitants, and deemed them suitable for uplifting. The Humans the Eidelons abducted would go on to form the basis of the Sebacean species, and the Peacekeepers.

A thousand cycles ago, the Kkore investigated Earth and its inhabitants, though deemed the planet to be backward and of little interest, so they disregarded it as a target in their future invasion plans of the Milky Way Galaxy.

Humans made their first forays into space a few decades before first contact was made; they landed on Earth's moon in 1969. ("The Locket") However, even by the late 20th century of Human history, Humanity was still divided by nations. ("PK Tech Girl") Even by this point, Humans had to deal with pathogens that killed thousands. ("They've Got a Secret") By the early 21st century, Earth's population had reached 6 billion, ("Picture If You Will") and no Human had travelled further than Earth's moon. ("House of Cards")

First contact was made between Humanity and the crew of Moya in the early 21st century. Upon his return to his homeworld, Crichton was disappointed in his kind's inability to come together and was ashamed of their paranoia. Even when sharing technology that he found on his travels throughout the galaxy, he knew doing so was only to distract them from taking extreme measures as he knew that if he did not offer them anything, most likely they would make an attempt to steal it for themselves. ("Terra Firma") Panic attacks went up by 700% across Humanity in the wake of the visit, and the United Nations Space Command was formed. ("A Constellation of Doubt") However, after the visit, Human governments slowly unified in the face of an uncertain future towards a wider galaxy. The UN Secretary General was given authority to speak for Earth on all space matters. ("Bad Timing")

R. Wilson Monroe, an alien alarmist, broadcasted a message of fear and suspicion, on the threat of further alien visitation, calling for stricter quarantine of future visits. ("A Constellation of Doubt")

After the Moya crew destroyed the wormhole to prevent the invasion of Earth by the Scarrans, they left behind several technologies including a module from Moya, pulse weapons, and translator microbes so Humanity would have a head start to reach the stars and deal with potential alien invasion. ("Bad Timing")

One observer noted that, if Humans were remembered at all, it would most likely be for the quality of their manual labor. Though he admitted that Humans are from a backward planet full of superstitious, xenophobic morons where nothing makes sense if they didn't think of it first - and even then - it was simplistic drivel.
